Building off of the last blog on Blood Stasis, it’s important to emphasize that ancient injuries not only block healing and blood-flow, they reduce the channels’ ability to propagate signals. Which means, in essence, the nerves are not going to function properly. You might be drop foot, or frozen shoulder, or have chronic headaches. But the bottom line is that the lack of proper circulation and signal conductivity will cause pain.
This is pretty typical. People often “walk off” injuries. Perhaps you couldn’t afford proper treatment, or you didn’t have the time. Life goes on. What you may not realize is how that injury may come back to haunt you later, especially if it is to a vital pathway or tissue cluster.
With acupuncture, cupping, and especially tuina and guasha we address these old injuries head on, and start removing stagnation. To remove stagnation often involves relying on your body’s natural energies to push out old stasis. That’s not always fun, but it is a pretty reliable, and ancient, method for healing. True therapies transform bad conditions into better situations. It isn’t a linear process, or even always that fun. There can be literal and emotional pain or psychological effort. But it can be, after all, a good and healthy process, as far as getting to the root of old problems, habits, etc.
Over time, the trauma of the trauma passes, and you integrate with your new state of being. The Medicine helps this, as well. The only question is, will you integrate in a wholesome way, or in a scarred way that leads to more scarring and pain? That’s why you can rely on an ancient, wise, and ultimately highly affordable medicine instead of just going to all sorts of different kinds of doctors and healers, chasing your tail. You’ll spend more money that way, and years later, still end up in our office saying you “tried literally everything.” Except, of course, acupuncture. Start with us. Deal with new and old trauma. Transform. Come in soon!
