People frequently complain of conditions like Carpal Tunnel, or Thoracic Outlet Syndrome or Frozen Shoulder, etc. But little do they know that there is an underlying energetic cause.
For background, imagine that of all the vertical channels that move throughout the body, you have one Master horizontal vessel call the Girdle Vessel or Meridian (Dai Mai). Now, this channel is controlled by gallbladder points, which usually have little to do with the organ itself. Instead it is related to the San Jiao or fascia organ of the whole body. So, now think that throughout the body there are horizontal bands which wrap around various limbs, joints, the head, and imagine that these can contract, spontaneously, especially at seasonal changes.
Circulation Worsens
When this happens we can get circulation issues, and shortening of the limbs, and gate locking inside the pits, hips, elbows, knees, ankles, and wrists. The shortening and clamping is an extension of general “gripping” Qi which comes from the Liver > Diaphragm > Spleen/Pancreas control mechanism/block.
What’s important to understand is that often your body fails to fix these in the middle of the season, and it begins a process of degradation which accelerates throughout your life. Each person has different rates of acceleration.
To remove many structural problems, we need to address these fascia clamps and gate locks (on nerves), and as a patient said today “make it feel alive again” (his arm).
So consider the possibility that you have anciently locked limbs and channels, which do connect to nerves and organs, sense organs and glands, and that you may be harmed by very old, even decades old, channel lock. If you’re on medications, it’ll be much worse. Without cupping and guasha, some people can never unlock them. It’s really tragic to see.
The key is prevention, but barring that, well let’s hope you at least get real therapy on the structures. I’m not saying massage and chiropractic cannot work. But unless the principles of these are combined, as they are in our Tuina, the question is, will there be enough synergy to restart the energetic pathways, and cause the fascia to spontaneously relax? I tend to doubt it, although there are some very good massage and Jin Shin Jyutsu practitioners who can work with energy signals and help unlock gates and bands. With acupuncture, though, it’s like the body figures out how to do it on its own! So book now, or call us up!
